Don’t Get Caught in “Getting By” Dreams

“The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it”. – Michelangelo

I often ask my clients what they really want if they could have their life exactly how they dream and I frequently get answers that represent limited thinking. They say things such as “all I want is to be able to pay the bills every month without worrying about it” or “I just want to bring in enough money to pay the mortgage and daycare”. This is often followed by “Is that too much to ask?” To which I usually reply, “It’s not nearly enough to ask”.

Somewhere along the way many people have been taught that getting by is enough and that wanting luxury and extravagance is somehow bad. They feel unworthy of riches or undeserving of praise and power. They aren’t good enough to be adored and fully loved by their partner. They have no business wearing expensive shoes or driving an expensive car.

As a Taurus who craves luxury and will do whatever it takes to get it, I’m a dream big kind of girl. But I didn’t used to be that way. I used to have those “get by” dreams…until I reset my markers. Did you know that all you have to do is simply reset your markers and your mind will soon follow?

And what’s really cool is no matter how high I set them, I achieve exactly that. Remember, if you can think it, you can have it. So, why not reset your markers higher and get honest about what you really want. With a set goal, a specific plan and a whatever it takes attitude, you CAN have whatever you dream.

  1. What a great question, what would you really want if you could have your life exactly as you wanted it to be. Indeed a great question!
